The Trophyman Salver is an individual Handicap competition, open to Associate Members and members of clubs affiliated to the Hampshire Small-Bore Rifle and Pistol Association.
When making entries, Hon. Secretaries must fill in the entry form giving names of their members together with their “Start“, this being their starting handicap.
The minimum Start allowed is 5 (five) and the Start is for each individual string of ten shots. For example, if a person asks for a Start of six, he must try to drop six points on each set of ten shots, not six points overall.
The competition will be run in three stages, highest 20 scores and equal lowest scores from first round to go through to the second round and highest 12 competitors from the second round go into the Final Stage.
The Final Stage will be shot shoulder-to-shoulder, the other stages will be conducted as a postal shoot.
Number of shots – 20 per competitor (2 cards), per stage.
Both cards to be shot within one hour period.
Stickers will be issued and must be affixed to the front of each match card before shooting commences.
If a competitor fires an excess number of shots on any diagram there will be a penalty of two points. Ten scoring shots must be placed on the appropriate aiming marks, If shots miss the scoring area the competitor must place further scoring shots on the appropriate aiming marks, with a penalty of two points for each shot in excess of ten. The penalty points will be deducted after the handicap has been taken into consideration.
Cards must be signed, witnessed and dated immediately after the shoot has taken place.
If there are ties to move forward from one stage to the next, graduated gauges will be used.
